Composition

Each ml contains:

Ceftiofur Hydrochloride..........200 mg

 

Indications

Swine: 

It is indicated for treatment/ control of swine bacterial respiratory disease (swine bacterial pneumonia) associated with Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Pasteurella multocida, Salmonella Choleraesuis and Streptococcus suis.

Cattle: 

Bovine respiratory disease (BRD, shipping fever, pneumonia) associated with Mannheim haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida and Histophilus somni.

Acute bovine interdigital necrobacillosis (foot rot, pododermatitis) associated with Fusobacterium necrophorum and Bacteroides melaninogenicus.

Acute metritis (0 to 14 days post-partum) associated with bacteria susceptible to ceftiofur. This product may be used in lactating dairy cattle. Not for use in calves to be processed for veal.

 

Administration and Dosage

For intramuscular injection:

Swine: 0.125 - 0.25ml per 10kg bodyweight, continuous use for 3 days.

Horses: 0.25 - 0.5ml per 50kg of bodyweight, once a day for 3 - 5 days.

For subcutaneous injection:

Cattle or sheep: 0.25ml per 15 - 20kg bodyweight; swine: 0.125 - 0.25ml per 10kg bodyweight.

Re-treatment after 48 hours.

 

Contraindication and Side Effect

Hypersensitivity to cephalosporin and other β-lactam antibiotics; Administration to animals with a serious impaired renal function; Concurrent administration with tetracycline, chloramphenicol, macrolides and lincosamides.


Precaution

The effects of ceftiofur on cattle and swine reproductive performance, pregnancy and lactation have not been determined.

Intramuscular and subcutaneous injection in cattle and intramuscular injection in swine can cause a transient local tissue reaction that may result in trim loss of edible tissue at slaughter.
