Poor Top have a long way back after a toothinfection. The first vet left 4 (!) root tip leaving a bad infection brewing. When I saw something was still not right I was planning to go back to the vet. That night I got phone calls and messages over FB warning me to go back because other things have started to go wrong at this previous very good vet. I had already had a gut feeling but this settled it. The second vet saw it was quite agressive job but thought it would settle with some anti-inflammatory &Amoxicillin. At first it looked better then it took a turn for the worse. Top got x-rayed and not less than 4 roots (of 5 extracted teeth) was left behind locking in a nasty abscess that have pressured up and formed a duct and a lump under his eye. Both very painful and putting pressure on and damaging a nerve. That got flushed, stiched up and my boy is now on Baytril (antibiotics) & Anti-inflammatory+pain relief. Thankfully the new vet gave me the option to administer the medicine via subcutaneous injections (knowing that I am a qualified nurse) The insurances did not kick in since this is tooth related. Leaving me financially drained (added cost on top of the first treatment ending up shy to 600 £/6000 kr so far) , and worse, a damaged Topelius with a long road to recovery. Hopefully this is the end of it. New vetrinary consult or visit next week.
I love my boy. Please get well.
Here you see a hungry Top struggling with food. It’s fear of pain, a still tender mouth (since the vet had to re-open the cavity left by the extracted teeth) and effect of the pinched nerve.
What a fighter he is – still attempt taking on the food. My son in fur ♡
